Li'l Smokey
This story tugs at the heart. A little 8 1/2 pound bear was found on the 18th of July in Northern California, severely burned in a fire. There are a number of clips about the bear available via the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care facility.
Another clip has been added to youtube.
If you are an animal lover, the clips are wonderful to watch, sad yet hopeful.

Very interesting video, Zhakee. I sure hope the little bear will survive. The rehabbers seem to be doing the best they can for the bear cub, but as they have said his prognosis is up in the air.
I am without doubt an animal lover but not very good at watching sad videos even if there is hope. I hope the little bear does well and hope you will keep us informed of his progress if at all possible.
What I wonder, if the bear survives the injuries and infection, is how such a tiny thing can be set free next winter as they propose, yet be taken care of without becoming fixed on humans. Such a tiny thing needs cuddles and warmth and being all alone doesn't sound good at all. Yet, to keep it able to be set free that rehab place would have to NOT let the bear get used to people, which means no cuddling with a warm, reactive lap. I will check back with that rehab web site each week or so and stay up to date. I'll post any additional info in this same comment section.
That broke my heart...
Thanks for visiting today.
Thanks for the visit. I'm not sure why Michigan has so many covered bridges. I think some are purely aesthetic, well most that are still in existance today are aesthetic.
I hope the bear cub makes it. I agree with you though, I don't understand how they will be able to rehabilitate it without its dependece on humans. I know it is done but I don't understand it.
July 27 update on the bear: he is no longer in critical condition, no infection thus far. He's gained a few pounds and improving.
I checked back at the Rescue Center website, and they now are doing almost daily updates on the little bear. Bookmark this page and you can find out info for yourself on the baby bear.
